This is a nice short doco on the Derby della Lanterna. A bit dated, but a fun look at the fans, the city and the derby…

A well desreved win for il Grifone.

15 minutes left, this could get ugly, hopefully Gastaldello and Accardi can control themselves.

I wonder what Palladino did or said to get the Samp players so enraged

been a great derby mike. if scoreline remains its genoas biggest derby win.

I just love that after the red card they attacked even harder rather than drop back and defend a 1-0 lead

a new type of italian football???

They dominted the game. My pisane Cassano was a non factor really.

I still peg Genoa to book a place in Europe again next year, they have a deep enough squad.

Whats with the rumors that Gasperini is gone after this year??

PS….I knew a straight red was coming for Samp before the end of the game

apparently Gasperini has had a falling out with management. He did criticise the clubs transfer olicy earlier this season.

He wanted the club to invest for success this season rather than build slowly.

I hope he stays but it’ll be hard to see him staying very long anyway.

One of the big clubs will want him

great win! what a game, 2 pens, 3 red cards, scuffles and fights, genoas biggest ever derby win

Genoa have now won 3 straight derbies, all in Serie A

You guys completely smoked us. We were horrible in every part of the pitch. True you benefitted from ridiculous reffing, and should have had three players sent off for persistent infringement in the first half alone for kicking Cassano out of the game. But overall, there can be no complaints about the scoreline, it was pathetic from Samp.

fouls were pretty even from both sides

    genoa committed 30, samp 24.

I think Genoa got away with the fouling on Cassano a bit cos he carried on like a loony

Half of Samp coulda been sent off for abusing officials.

I think the ref was good considering the tension of the derby.

A lesser ref couldnt have kept it as tame a match as it and it wasnt that tame

The officials deserved the abuse. But with our total disorganization and lack of ideas, I doubt we could have won even if they had called the other 30 fouls Genoa committed that were at least as bad as the 30 they did call. I seriously don’t know if Samp would have scored against Genoa today even if we’d gone to 11-on-9 in the first half, which was what should have happened if there was any justice in Italian officiating, and we know the answer to that one. Del Neri has a lot to answer for.

i can understand why youre so passionate about the issue, but i seriously dont think the officiating could have been any better. Ive never played football professionally but i remember when my school team would play one of our big rivals and to a lesser extent when i play for my local team and we take on a rival, no ref can keep the game clean because both teams go into the game willing to do whatever it takes and keen to draw a little blood while they do

Dont you think Cassano should have been sent off for elbowing Sculli in the face off the ball?

both teams got good and bad calls, I think Genoa clearly ad more desire and better preparation and tat usually wins you matches
