Tough Times
By: patcook |After winning their first 4 games in a row, Genoa started a tricky set of games against Juve with a draw. They have since gone on to lose to Udinese and Valencia, but got back on track with a win over Bologna.
Now Genoa face Inter, a match that could provide a lot of confidence for the run in to the winter break.

Genoa V Udinese
By: patcook |Genoa need to win this one. They face 3 away games in a row before hosting Inter.
Genoa’s home form has been fantastic and the draw with Juventus (totally deserved btw, Juve should feel lucky to get a point ;p) shows that they can compete with anyone at home. Away however, is a different story.
Udinese are coming off a win against Milan and will be buzzing with confidence and keen to prove themselves against another of the clubs tipped to challenge for the Champions League this season.
My prediction: Genoa 3-2 Udinese
Better Than Inter, Apparently Not Better Than Chievo

Better Than Inter
By: patcook |Genoa were the only bright light in the Europa League for Italy as Rome’s teams both burned and, along with Milan, were one of only two Italian teams to win in Europe this week out of 7. Genoa President, Enrico Preziosi, was loving every minute of it and proclaimed his side better than reigning 4 time scudetto champions and perennial Champions League underachievers, Inter; Read the rest of this entry »
Hosting Slavia
By: patcook |Genoa sit on top of the table thanks to goal difference and goals scored and Genoa play the best football on the peninsula, but Hernan Crespo has told his side to expect something completely different when they host Slavia Prague. Read the rest of this entry »
Catch Up
By: patcook |Sorry everyone about the delay in posts. I had swine flu for a few weeks and had some log in issues.
Anyway, while I was running temperatures around 40 degress, Genoa started well against Roma. A see-sawing 3-2 win courtesy of goals from Criscito, Zapater and Biava. Read the rest of this entry »
In The Beginning
By: patcook |I’m the new administrator of the Genoa blog. For this first post I’ll just write about myself a little so you guys can get to understand my perspective on the world of football. Perhaps if you know my biases you might forgive me for them if they send me on a crazy rant from time to time. Read the rest of this entry »
Ricardo Quaresma set to join Rossoblù
By: j |Confident that Ricardo Quaresma is set to make the move to the Rossoblù, club president Enrico Preziosi declared on Italian media outlet “Radio Radio” that negotiations for the Portuguese international will be finalized next week:
“I am certain we will conclude negotiations for Quaresma next week.”
Of the talented Robert Acquafresca, it appears he is unlikely headed to Genova as Mr. Preziosi said, “I think he will go elsewhere with a team able to guarantee him first team football.”
Addressing concerns of Domenico Criscito and Raffaele Palladino, the president assured Genoa supporters that terms will be met with Juventus to seem them return:
“Our intention is to keep (Raffaelle) Palladino and (Domenico) Criscito. We will soon meet with Juventus and I am sure we will reach an agreement.”

Hernán Crespo is focused
By: j |Without a doubt Hernán Crespo has sent a strong message in joining the Rossoblù as he wants to not only prove he still prove he can be a powerful force in Serie A once again but worthy of selection to the Albicelestes. In speaking to Buenos Aires based newspaper Clarìn, the former River Plate sharpshooter reiterated of the noble pride of playing for his homeland and that, “the move to Genoa gives (me) the opportunity to play with confidence and the chance of playing in my fourth World Cup.”
Enrico Preziosi looking to add further “perle sul piatto”
By: j |As per the Genoa web-site the club is going through the final stages of completing the transfer to bring Sergio Floccari from Atalanta’s and Inter Milan’s Hernán Crespo to the Rossoblù. Both players are likely to be formally introduced shortly but this seems
In addition to trying to woo Ricardo Quaresma to ply his trade in Genova, club president Enrico Preziosi is very interested in Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Juninho, Moussa Dembélé from Eredivisie champions AZ and Fernando Menegazzo from Bordeaux. Of the latter three the commentary seems more to be a “wish-list” best of players of interest. Whle Juninho at thirty-four years of age is definitely still remarkable from set plays, the young Belgian striker Moussa Dembélé is full of enormous promise and would be a premier signing for years to come.
