Il Grifone in international duty
By: j | September 8th, 2008With the international break nearly over, the Rossoblu attention will be turning to the weekend task against A.C. Milan. The Rossoneri will certainly be dealing with fatigue on Sunday’s match as a number of there players are off on in international duty. Additionally midfielder Gennaro Gattuso suffered a peculiar injury in training and will be missing for a month.
As it relates to international duty, Genoa’s Boško Janković, who just recently joined on-loan from Palermo, featured in Serbia’s 2-0 victory over the Faroe Islands, entering in seventy-fifth minute for Zoran Tošić (FK Partizan). He is likely to play a heavier role as Serbia faces France this Wednesday. Elsewhere Domenico Criscito and Salvatore Bocchetti were in the starting grid in Italy’s U-21 match against Greece’s. They are expected to play a heavy role against Croatia in tomorrow’s match. If you have a chance, please pay special interest to these international matches and support them as they represent their homeland.
I will be releasing a match profile shortly for this weekend.

Wow, i didn’t even know this blog was here. I was planning on writing a genoa blog, if serieA.tv would go online so i can actually watch their games, but it seems you’re better off with this task. You should tell offside to make the genoa icon at the top of the sreen to appear colored. I clicked on this by accident.
As for the viola internationals. I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing Mesto in a azzurri jersey soon. And Bocchetti is class.

Alex; welcome and thank you for taking the time to post. I appreciate your well-wishes. I think we’ll have a nice group of visitors here and have a great time this campaign.
You cannot get Genoa matches where you are?
Thanks again.

stephanie – thank you for joining in. I’ve read your blog many times and always appreciate your viewpoint.
I’m convinced I enjoy the “hidden” status, makes it fun with a small group of people and everyone seems very nice.
Drop by again. Thank you

Well, J, in the US, the only network showing Serie A games is Fox Soccer Channel and they really only show the big 4 teams. The only time I get to see Genoa on the tv is when they play Milan, Juve, Inter or Roma. Hey, I guess I will get to see them this weekend!

Johonna; I’m going to look into this because there must be options for those within the U.S. Have you looked online services and gaming sites as well? I’m not sure how they handle IP addresses but it something I will look into.

J, bet365.com lets you watch games but you have to make sure you choose an appropriate geographic location, if not you can only listen, which is still better than nothing.

And if you have ESPN360, you’re set. Most telecom-internet companies (As opposed to cable) carry it, ie- Verizon, AT&T. It’s amazing, live, on-demand, saved for a week, you can rewind while the game is playing, and it’s all relatively high quality. They just upped this season’s coverage from 4 games a week to 8-9, depending on the weekend.

Gianfranco – Alessio; thank you my friends for joining in and helping out. Those are great ideas.
How would you feel if we put together a live blog with some of the upcoming matches but use a system everyone can get like bet365? I think it could be a lot of fun and we could all take part in.
Let me know what you think -

Boy howdy, wouldn’t that be great! but ESPN.360 has no service providers in my area. HURRAY!
And as for gaming sites and the like (ie, not on demand), the time difference is a real problem. I love football, but I do not get up at 6am on a weekend for anything but a house fire. I still have my fingers crossed that Seriea.tv will resurrect.

Johonna – oh 6am isn’t that bad (hmm…my team we play at 7am so we’re off the pitch early enough to watch the matches – lol). Seriously let me know what works and if anyone is interested. I think it would be a lot of fun with the right group.

That’s why I love evening games, Johonna…1-2pm is very doable. Other games are 9am for me, and Sunday AM…I’m usually hungover. If it’s against Lecce or Cagliari…I might happen to sleep through it.
Re: liveblogs, I plan on liveblogging every Juve game I can. You’re welcome to join me on the Juve blog, I’m not sure how you’d want to coordinate it. There’s always live feeds online, we can find it easy for each game I’m sure, myp2p.eu has a bunch. It’s sifting through them that’s complicated.

I bet Juve games will be broadcast on FSC.

Alessio – it isn’t hard to organize at all plus its fun. Now we just have to get everyone together for a good group. I just checked and the Juve match is on bet365 btw.

The convenience of supporting a big team.
I will be following Genoa this year more than normal, you have a lot of Juventini (including the coach!) I’m excited to see how they play.

Right. But do you mean just having everyone on the blog during the game? Or something else.

well, it’s easier then having everyone over for my place although my wine selection is reason to travel…
Yes, everyone on the blog and have some fun with it. Nothing insulting and all good natured fun.
Unless of course everyone is coming over but let me know because I have to head to the market on Friday : )

just to let everyone know, I’ve talked to people at The Offside about someone doing a live blog for the match. Let me know if there is interest and I’ll ask them to do it. If we get enough people we likely can. Thank you

J, thanks a bunch for your support. Realy appreciate it. Good to see that Genoa has their own little space here at the offsides. Soon Daryll should get the icon working.
You have a friend here. Take it easy.
